THE HISTORY OF THE FRIENDS OF THE ROTUNDA

In 1967, the Master, Dr. Edwin Lillie, brought to the Board, with the approval of the medical staff of the Hospital, a proposal to form a body designated the Friends of the Rotunda Hospital. This Body would undertake the task of Fundraising, to provide new equipment and furnishing for the Hospital and better conditions for Patients, particularly where the State was unable to meet such costs.

Subsequently, the Friends of the Rotunda was formally established in 1971 followed by its incorporation as a Limited Company, on the 23rd March 1973.

The Friends is the official fundraising arm and registered Charity (CHY20091) of the Rotunda Hospital and is regulated by a Memorandum and Articles of Association under the Companies Act of 1963.
