Marc & Melissa Laycock and their amazing fundraising committee recently presented the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with a cheque for €13,000. This was raised over the period 2014 - 2015 through the Leave Your Mark 5-A- Side Football Tournament in late memory of their infant son, Mark Anthony Leo Laycock. The money will be used to purchase a vital piece of equipment called InfantView.
On hand to greet the Laycock family and friends when they recently visited the Pillar Room to present their cheque, were the Master, Dr. Sam Coulter-Smith, Dr. Adrienne Foran, our NICU and Bereavement Services Support Staff, Dr. Afif EL-Khuffash, Consultant Neonatologist and Clinical Director of Neonatology, Rotunda Hospital and Sheila Thompson, Marketing Manager of The Rotunda Foundation (formerly known as the Friends of the Rotunda).
Dr. Afif was pleased to explain that the money raised will be used to purchase a state of
the art piece of vital equipment called InfantView made by Acutronic Medical Systems AG. This highly dedicated device will be used in the NICU for neonatal and paediatric video-intubation and transillumination to improve patient outcome. Our tiny babies who have difficulty in breathing will be hugely aided by this equipment and as Dr. Afif mentioned, it will also allow the Consultants to provide valuable visual training support for our junior doctors.
InfantView - a piece of vital state-of-the-art equipment being purchased with the Mark Anthony Leo Laycock Fundraising donation
The past two years of continuous fundraising effort in aid of the Rotunda Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Fund is hugely appreciated by The Rotunda Foundation (formerly known as the Friends of the Rotunda) as such financial support is especially welcome during these particularly difficult and harsh economic times.
